Serbia win opening ties

Serbia won its opening tie on Monday, with Janko Tipsarevic giving the 2009 champion an unassailable 2-0 lead over Croatia by dismissing Lovro Zovko 6-0, 6-0. The World No. 8 dropped just seven points on serve as he defeated Zovko, a late replacement for the injured Ivo Karlovic, in 46 minutes.

A day earlier, Viktor Troicki had beaten Ivan Dodig in straight sets.
