Zimonjic and Benneteau top Fish and Stepanek in Finals

Julien Benneteau and Nenad Zimonjic captured their team’s second title with a 7-6(5), 7-5 win over the first-time pairing of Mardy Fish and Radek Stepanek at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C.

The French-Serbian duo had won the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters this past April on their partnership debut, upsetting Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan in the final.

On Sunday, Benneteau and Zimonjic capitalised on their two break point chances while saving six of the seven faced. They rallied from 3-0 down in the second set for the one hour, 29-minute victory.

Zimonjic, 37, was contesting his 80th ATP World Tour doubles final and claimed his 49th title, while the 31-year-old Benneteau won his eighth doubles title from his 13th final.
