Third-seeded Serbian-Canadian pair Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor failed to enter the men’s doubles semifinals at Wimbledon on Thursday when they were beaten by the fifth seeds Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek 3-6, 7-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Indo-Czech pair of Paes and Stepanek took advantage of a crucial break when scores were tied 3-3 to win 6-4, wrapping up the match in their favour after two hours and 35 minutes of exhilarating play. They will next face either the second-seeded Austrian-Brazilian combination of Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares or the unseeded big-serving Canadian-US pair of Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock in the semifinals.

Nenad Zimonjic is still alive in mixed doubles competition and fights to reach semifinals with Australian partner Samantha Stosur.
